Guidelines
The SBNS academic committee in conjunction with the BNTRC have devised a document of authorship guidelines for publications. This document has been ratified by SBNS Council.
It is designed to aid authors into deciding appropriate authorship, it is not mandatory.
BJNS Fellowship
The BJNS tends to appoint a BJNS fellow to join the editorial and production team, initially for a period of six months.
This post is generally be suitable for a senior trainee or an academic trainee who has and is interested in publishing and understanding the work that goes on behind the scenes in trying to produce the six issues of the BJNS in a year.
This is a non-remunerated position and is ‘online only’ working remotely with the EIC. Please consult your TPD before applying. The job mainly consists of:
- Audit the processing standards
- Attend/organise editorial board meetings
- Shadow the EIC
- Review monthly performance data with EIC
- Review papers and help with editorial decisions
- Keep an eye on the backlog – both submission/processing as well as production
Hopefully, at the end of six months the fellow will develop an understanding of the editorial process which will help them to be Associate Editors and EIC in the future.
I expect this to be a six month post only and hopefully more trainees will get to rotate through. There will be opportunities to produce abstracts/publications.
