What was your journey that lead you to SBNS council? My 1st podium presentation, as an FY1, was at the BNRG meeting in Newcastle in 2009 entitled “The Burden of Motorcycle Related Neuro-Trauma in Ireland and Associated Helmet Usage”.  Throughout my training I maintained a strong interest in clinical and academic Neurotrauma and became the 1st person to be awarded the RCS approved Neurotrauma Fellowship at the Royal London Hospital.  Recently, I returned to Ireland to take up a new role after previously been a Consultant in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. 

What are your aims/contributions to SBNS council? 
In conjunction with the SBNS Council, 
1.    Re-establish the Annual Neurotrauma conference.
2.    Engagement with the NMTR/ TARN.
3.    Neurotrauma Academic Debate Series.
4.    Engage with TBI advocacy groups, Parliament, Industry and Public Patient Partnerships.
5.    Supporting SBNS/BNTRC endorsed trauma projects.
6.    Explore additional funding streams for TBI projects.
7.    Support network for Neurosurgeons & trainees across UK and Ireland with Neurotrauma interests, including site visits. (GAIN/NANSIG/BNTA)
8.    Neurotrauma Mentor/Mentee programmes.
9.    Work collaboratively alongside associated specialities ie Critical Care Society, RCEM, PHEM, BTS, BANN etc.
